Doesn’t it make you NUTS when you’re trying to get the last valuable drops of your favorite (and super expensive) lotion or potion out of the container but it just won’t budge?  I feel like the way packaging is designed these days it is meant to frustrate the consumer and make us wasteful, because there always seems to be at least 4 or 5 days worth of product trapped in the bottle that you just can’t reach.

Well now, thanks to Beauty Spoon you can get every last drop out of your bottle.

The patent-pending Beauty Spoon® is designed with an ergonomic handle and
flexible stem making it easy to retrieve every ounce of liquid and cream located
at the bottom of your product bottles and containers.  The Beauty Spoon® also comes equipped with a contoured spoon for retaining and scooping out as much liquid as possible.  When finished, simply wash the Beauty Spoon® with soap and water and start bragging to your friends about all the money you saved! It’s the essential beauty tool that maximizes the use of all your beauty products!

I was given a bottle of La Mer Concentrate that clocks in at a whopping $375 for 1.7 oz (yes, you read that right…) and thanks to Beauty Spoon, I have extended the life of the Concentrate by at least a week, maybe more, because this handy tool always seems to find just a tiny bit more product tucked in the deep recesses of the bottle!  If you are frustrated by tossing bottles and jars that still have days worth of beauty in them, I highly recommend the Beauty Spoon.

Beauty Spoons cost $9.99 for a set of two, and are available for purchase on line at BeautySpoon.com

Are You Drinking Enough Water?

January 27th, 2012 by Sara Cornell

Water is the source of life, and unless you’ve been living in a cave lately, you know that you need to drink water – and lots of it – every day for optimal health.   The human body is almost 60% water;  the brain is composed of 70% water, and the lungs are nearly 90% water. Lean muscle tissue contains about 75% water by weight; body fat contains 10% water and bone has 22% water. About 83% of our blood is water, which helps digest our food, transport waste, and control body temperature.

According to the Mayo Clinic’s website,  lack of water can lead to dehydration, a condition that occurs when you don’t have enough water in your body to carry out normal functions. Even mild dehydration can drain your energy and make you tired.

What about the advice to drink eight glasses a day?

Everyone has heard the advice, “Drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day.” That’s about 1.9 liters, which isn’t that different from the Institute of Medicine recommendations. Although the “8 by 8″ rule isn’t supported by hard evidence, it remains popular because it’s easy to remember.

About.com has a great tool on their nutrition link called a Hydration Calculator.  I completed the quiz attached to the link, and according to their calculator, I should be drinking 2.4 Liters (81.5 ounces) of water every day, which is just slightly higher than the recommended  ”8 by 8″ rule.

2+ liters of water can taste boring sometimes, and a great supplement to your water intake is coconut water.  It tastes great, is nutritionally satisfying, and very refreshing.  Vita Coco is a popular brand in my household.  Coconut water is also a great sports hydrator, and much better for you than artificially sweetened sports drinks.   Vita Coco is loaded with potassium, and is as natural as natural gets.  I always have a coconut water handy during and after my hot yoga practice, and keep bottles handy in my office and kitchen.  Like the Vita Coco folks say…”Life is hectic enough, and you should be hydrated while you live it. Go ahead, get hydrated and remember that life is a sport.”A great way to get your family to drink more water is to replace their sports drinks (or God forbid sodas!) with Vita Coco or other naturally flavored water beverages.  Just be sure to check the labels to make sure that any flavoring comes from natural and not artificial sweeteners.

Try drinking the recommended amount of water for your body size and lifestyle, and see how great you can feel.  Chances are you’ll have more energy, feel more alert and your skin will look radiant!

Meaningful Beauty Delivers Meaningful Changes

Cindy Crawford for Meaningful Beauty

As the seasons change, so does our need for adapting our skin care regimen.  Unless you live on the equator where the temperature and climate is pretty consistent, chances are you have noticed that there are seasons when your skin is drier or oilier, more vibrant or less youthful.  In the winter months it’s easy to think “Oh, I’ll just add more moisturizer…” but sometimes a complete change up to your skin care products can be just what the dermatologist ordered.

Meaningful Beauty, Cindy Crawford’s skin care system in partnership with Dr. Jean-Louis Sebaugh, is a great place to start if you are thinking about changing products or systems.  A 7-step system focusing on anti-ageing, the Meaningful Beauty System gets to the root of your skin  concerns.  In clinical studies, after 6 weeks of use:

  • 85% of participants reported their skin visibly improved.
  • 91% of participants noticed an overall improvement in the healthier appearance of their skin.
  • 76% of participants noticed a decrease in skin dullness and dryness.
  • 85% of participants would recommend the product to a friend.
  • 100% of participants reported no irritation.

One of my skin concerns in winter is redness.  Meaningful Beauty’s products work deep within the skin to help smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, add radiance and brighten your complexion and protect skin from environmental aggression and free radical damage.

You can learn more about the Meaningful Beauty system on their web site, where the complete system is available for purchase.  At a cost of $39.95 per month Meaningful Beauty’s price is well below many of the big name brands, and we think you will be happy with the results.
