I Wear Jockey Staycool And I’m 3° Cooler Than You!

Jockey is cooking up some great new things and our latest obsession is their Jockey® staycool collection that is brilliantly engineered with Outlast® technology to help your skin feel up to 3° cooler all the time! The cotton-spandex fabric blend offers an amazingly soft, breathable feel and a supremely flattering fit. Styles include a super awesome reversible tank, reversible t-shirt, bikini and modern brief underwear silhouettes.

I am completely in love with the Jockey® staycool Reversible Tank

I love wearing black, but that can get pretty uncomfortable and hot in the summer time. I was so surprised to find that this tank is lightweight and doesn’t feel hot and heavy even though it’s black. It’s just amazing! The fit is perfect, the material is stretchy and breathable and the tank doesn’t look like underwear. I wear it with jeans, shorts, skirts and under strappy summer frocks for extra coverage. (My 10 month old figured out where the boobies are and likes to go looking for them when we’re in public!)

I also got to try out the Jockey® staycool Bikini underwear and found those to be quite comfortable as well. Great fit, comfortable material, no wedgies, and they feel cool and dry even in the summer heat. I can’t say that about any other underwear I own…

Originally developed for NASA, the Outlast® technology behind Jockey® staycool underwear and t-shirts helps your skin feel up to 3° cooler. How? Special Thermocules™ absorb excess heat to maintain your optimal external body temperature, helping to keep you cooler all day, every day…all year long.

You can check out the entire line of women’s Jockey staycool products on their website. They also have men’s Jockey staycool products too!

Dita Von Teese to Design Lingerie Line

One of our favorite glamour girls, Dita Von Teese just recently announced her new line of “glam underpinnings”  including the fact that it’ll fit women from size XS to an E-cup (which we women of every shape and size love!). The line will be available first in Australia this year, followed by the UK next year and the US.

DIta has always been one to embrace what she was given and now that she is designing for the every woman? We think she rocks even more. It is every woman’s right to feel sexy and confident in herself and Dita shares that sentiment exactly!

“I love lingerie that fits well and is also beautiful, bringing function together with glamour and sensuality. I am especially excited to be designing lingerie with a vast sizing range so that women of all shapes and sizes can have a beautiful, sensual lingerie wardrobe that suits their body type. Indulging in elegant lingerie isn’t about the seduction of another person, it’s about seducing yourself first and embracing womanhood and femininity.”

HELP! Desperately Seeking a Nursing Bra

Since my husband and I are expecting our first bambino next month, my life is full of changes.  Most of them are exciting, like creating a nursery for this little person we haven’t met yet.  Some of them are funny, like when the fraud department at my credit card company called and asked if I was really the person spending so much money at Wal-Mart and Babies R Us.  (My response?  “Yes, I know.  I miss Nordstrom, too.”)  But some of the upcoming changes are a little scary, and for me, breastfeeding falls in that category.

I’m definitely planning to breastfeed, and I know it’s a natural process and women have been doing it for eons and blah, blah, blah.  But it’s intimidating!  For example, I only recently learned that newborns eat 8-10 times a day.  Seriously?  That’s more often than I check email.

This woman looks very happy. She has obviously found a good nursing bra.

If I could just get a handle on the wardrobe issues, though, I’d feel much more confident about the whole thing.  Let’s face it: looking good while nursing is the El Dorado of motherhood.  I could go on all day about the limited variety and questionable style of most nursing clothes, but I don’t have the luxury of worrying about that because I have yet to find a suitable nursing bra.  And if there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that looking good starts with a great-fitting bra.

Since I’m naturally “well-endowed”, I’ve been investing in well-made, supportive bras for as long as I can remember.  Wacoal and Chantelle work best for me, and although they cost a pretty penny, I don’t mind spending more for such crucial wardrobe items.  But now I’m fretting because my old stand-bys won’t work for nursing.

Further complicating the issue is that—of course—my bust has gotten even bigger during the pregnancy.  Something I read said that this is a good sign biologically; it means your body is getting ready for the baby by making sure he can find his food source.  Well, I don’t think that will be a problem.  Helen Keller could find my bosoms these days.

And now that a supportive bra is even more important than ever, I’m frustrated with the options I’m finding.  So I need HELP in a big way!  Any D or DD women out there who’ve found nursing bras they love?  I’ve heard that underwire styles can be problematic but can’t imagine going without it.  Has anyone found a brand that works?   BareNecessities.com has many options, but I’m not familiar with the brands and have no idea where to start.  Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Obsession Alert: Second Base® “Jacqui” Racerback Demi Camisole

We here at The Fashionable Housewife are always looking for the next best fashion accessory, trick and tips to looking our best. Enter the new Jacqui Racerback Demi Camisole from Second Base. To say I was excited to try this out is an understatement. When you want a little extra coverage, layer a second base demi cami over your bra and voila! Instant Layering and that’s no lie.

Why go to Second Base?  Worn over your everyday or special occasion bra, this clever demi (cropped) camisole is quite literally your “second base.”  Jacqui gives you the convenient function & coverage of a layering piece for that perfect racerback dress, tank, v-neck sweater, tunic and more – without the added bulk.  Wear with any racerback look to get the coverage you need in the front, with added confidence of a sleek, no-VBL silhouette in the back.  Don’t need the coverage but still wish to update your look?  Wear the Jacqui racerback as a versatile layering piece to instantly enhance any outfit, from office to cocktails to leisure and beyond.  Made in the USA of a siro micro-modal & spandex blend, Jacqui and other Second Base demi camisoles are silky smooth to the touch – so comfortable you’ll forget you’re wearing them!

So sometimes a great concept doesn’t translate into a great reality. Not the case here, my friends. I got the Jacqui in Black and WAS.NOT.DISAPPOINTED. Being a busty girl, I am always paranoid about an appropriate amount of cleavage in the workplace and in public. When you have large ladies, they sometimes speak out of turn. With the Jacqui, I got the coverage that I usually get with another cami but without the added bulk. The demi cami is absolutely super soft and upon doing a little research found that it’s eco-friendly as well. How can a girl go wrong? I am really looking forward to wearing this under dresses and lower cut shirts that I never quite feel comfortable in. I am thinking that the Second Base Demi Cami is one of the best things to happen to my wardrobe in a long time.

Retailing for $30.00, Jacqui comes available in sizes XS-XL (cup sizes A-F) in classic black, white or ivory.  It’s already in stores ladies,  including Neiman Marcus nationwide, select Bloomingdale’s and ShopSecondBase.com.

Dr. Rey Shapewear

What’s the difference between an LBD that looks good and one that looks spectacular?  There’s a good chance it’s not the dress at all– it’s the undergarments you’re wearing beneath it.

The right undergarments give you lift and shape in all the right places AND do it in a comfortable manner.  Since I’m always on the hunt for such treasures, I’m interested in the collaborative offering of Dr. Robert Rey (of Dr. 90210 fame) and Australian lingerie designer Bruno Schiavi: Dr. Rey Shapewear

Dr. Rey’s expertise in enhancement surgery and plastic reconstructive secrets combined with Bruno Schiavi’s experience in the lingerie/shapewear market offers women a unique range of body enhancing shapewear to disguise any imperfection and enhance a woman’s natural assets. The collection is for every woman who wants to improve her shape without going under the knife. Whether it’s bridal season or every day life, Dr. Rey Shapewear can completely transform the appearance of your body, providing you with confidence and satisfaction.

The line consists of high and low waist garments, body suits, corsets, t-shirts, bras, briefs, g-strings, swimwear, hosiery, and more. Shapewear prices start at $27; bathing suits at $32.50; and hosiery at $17.50.

Well I, for one, am 100% pro- “improving my shape” and anti- “going under the knife,” so I’m looking forward to trying it.  I’m particularly pleased with the price point, which is a steal if the items are as good as advertised.

Dr. Rey’s Shapewear is available at the following retailers:

Sears.com

BareNecessities.com

and HSN.com.

So have you worn Dr. Rey Shapewear?  And how often do you wear this type of garment– is it just for special occasions or more like everyday?

Enhance Your Back Side With Padded Underwear

Yeah, I know what you’re thinking… “Um no way!” But seriously, some people just aren’t genetically gifted in the derriere department. Exercises may lift what you already have, but adding inches is a little more difficult.

Now you can instantly enhance your back side and the way your clothes fit, with Padded Panties, Panty Butt Enhancer Pads, Silicone Body Shapers and more from a cheeky little company called Bubbles Bodywear.

They were kind enough to send us a small selection of their offerings to try out and review. We couldn’t be more thrilled! Being someone who already has quite the bubble butt, I had to find some friends to try these out and my mom ended up being the most willing candidate!

After coaching her past the initial fear of wearing them in public, she wore the BubbleBuns Padded Boyshorts in black with a pair of grey skinny jeans. She looked FABULOUS. She was afraid that it would look like she was wearing padded underwear, but we both agree they look totally natural. We were both really impressed with the results! If you’re concerned about other people knowing you are padding your backside, DON’T BE.

If you are used to not having much going on back there, then yes, it will be a surprise to turn around, look in the mirror and see a nicely shaped bottom. Don’t let that scare you though. It’s not ridiculous or obvious. It just gives you a nice, natural looking curve. My mom is an extremely fit and healthy woman who looks amazing for her age and these undies made her look even better.

My mom also tried out the Silicone Leopard Panty. They looked good, but she thought they felt kinda heavy and would take some time to get used to wearing them. She preferred the BubbleBuns Padded Boyshorts because they had removable foam pads that were very lightweight and more comfortable to sit on.

What’s also interesting is that they were featured on The Today Show last week with Bobbie Thomas’s segment “Spring’s Most Unique Style Trends“.

Take a look at Bubbles extensive collection of padded underwear to find the pair that is right for you. They also have Bum Lifters & Booty Bras and Adhesive Silicone Bra which is perfect for wearing under your favorite summer clothes. More on that later!!
