There are a lot of new beauty collections for spring 2012, but the Lancome Spring 2012 Color Collection Roseraie Des Delices is easily one of my favorites for the season. Below, I’ve highlighted the new products for the spring line, so check them out and make room in your beauty bag for these gorgeous new eyeshadows, lip colors and more.

Eyes

  • Limited Edition Spring 2012 Collection Eye Palette Eye Brightening All-In-One 5-Shadow & Liner (2 new palettes)

Both palettes in this limited edition spring 2012 collection are stunning, and include “Rose Romance,” a palette of soft pinks, peach and burgundy shadows, and “Vert Tendresse,” a flattering mix of mint and forest greens. Each shadow can be worn alone or combined for the perfect eye look and all of the shadows are designed to wear for up to 8 hours.

($49/each)

  • Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner (two new shades)

Lancome’s Le Stylo Waterproof Eyeliner includes two new shades that are perfect for spring: “Blanc,” a pure white designed to brighten eyes, and “Green Petal,” a frosty, pastel mint green for a bright pop of color.

($25.50/each)

Face

  • La Roseraie Illuminating Smooth Powder

This gorgeous rosy pink and pastel shimmer color compact is a great all-in-one compact for cheeks and face, and will impart a subtle shimmer and rosy glow to brighten even the dullest complexions.

($42)

Lips

  • L’Absolu Rouge Nu (two shades: Sweet Marmalade and Rose Petal)
  • Le French Touch Absolu Nu (Cotton Candy)
  • Color Fever Gloss (three shades: Green Petal, Tangerine Petal and Rose Petal)

By far my favorite offerings from Lancome’s 2012 makeup collection are the lip colors. With two new lipsticks to choose from and a new lip gloss, you can find something for everyone. All of the shades are perfect for spring, but the lip gloss is definitely my favorite  with their sheer pastel shades and their moisturizing, never sticky, application.

($26.50-35/each)

Which products are your favorite from the spring collection?

Review: J.Jill Marled Sweater Coat

December 2nd, 2011 by Lucie Amberg

Even here in SoCal, the weather turned chilly right before Thanksgiving, so I found myself giving thanks for a cozy item I had for review. The J.Jill marled sweater coat is a full-length, cardigan style sweater in a plush (and surprisingly soft) wool.

Since I have yet to reach 5’3″ on the measuring stick (after 20 years of trying), I have never worn a sweater coat before. It’s always seemed like too much for a petite person, and this one was a bit long for me. Despite that, like all J.Jill items I’ve tried, it’s very well made. The shoulders and body of the sweater are beautifully tailored, avoiding the slightly sloppy look of some sweater coats. It would just work better on someone who’s at least 5’6″.

That said, I certainly enjoyed it. First of all, it’s quite warm; in fact, the only thing currently in my closet that’s warmer is my winter coat. Whenever it actually gets cold here, my house turns into an igloo, so having this sweater coat was crucial during our recent frosty spell. And even though I’m typically sensitive to wool (to the point of not wearing it), this wool is so high-quality that it’s actually soft enough to curl up in.

Also, the marled pattern is lovely– a pretty mix of browns, greys, and creams. It’s a great going-apple-picking-in-New-England kind of look. If I lived in a cold clime and were taller, that’s exactly how I’d wear it, just toss it on over jeans. I Polyvored the following, though, to show you how I wore it while compensating for my (lack of) height.

J.Jill Sweater Coat

Wearing black from top to bottom gave me an illusion of length, so the sweater coat didn’t look overwhelming. If I’d really wanted to stretch that, I could have worn a boot with a heel.
So while this item presents a few challenges for my fellow petites, I can definitely recommend it for taller ladies. It is a true classic, the type of piece I can envision someone gleefully pulling out every October.

The J.Jill Marled Sweater Coat retails for $199.

Fashionable Media Review Policy: This item was presented to me, at no cost, by the manufacturer or representing PR agency. My opinion is my own and not influenced by compensation, monetary or otherwise.

American Apparel Launches their First Line of Lip Glosses

November 16th, 2011 by Denise Shively

American Apparel, a company known for their popular clothing line, has just announced the launch of their first line of lip glosses. The lip glosses will be joining their current palette of “Made in the U.S.A.” beauty products, and will feature nine colorful shades.

Creative Director Marsha Brady says:

We worked on the formula until we had a non-sticky application that moisturized and felt great on your lips. These are colors for everyone. Over the last few months of color trials employees were eager to see them and try them on, so we got to see how they performed on many different complexions. We’re really happy with how pretty and natural they look on everyone.

The names of the lip glosses are just as provocative as the colors, from “Pantytime,” (an apricot-hued pink) and “Legalize LA,” (a vivid red.) The colors in the collection were also designed to flatter a variety of complexions and moods, from bold colors to wear-everywhere natural tones. Plus, all of the lip glosses are mineral oil, petroleum, fragrance and cruelty-free.

American Apparel lipgloss will retail for $12 per tube, and be available in American Apparel stores and online. For more information, visit AmericanApparel.net.
