Get the BEST Warm Weather Blowout!

With events that we want to look our best and little time to do it, we just love this quick and easy way to get the best warm weather blowout. Celebrity hair stylist and KeSARI beauty guru, Dayler Chagas, has garnered best blowout kudos in New York Magazine. Dayler, who is known for controlling the manes of Heidi Klum, Sheryl Crow and Dylan Lauren, believes that all you need to achieve a frizz-free summer blowout are three key products:

1. KeSARI Indian Oil Hair Serum with Triphala Radiance Silk Complex ($31.50/4.4 oz at www.HSN.com. We have tried this and believe me when I say that this stuff is dreamy. It smells great and does the trick. Just be careful because a dab will do ya!)

2. Any round brush, small for fine hair and large for thick hair (Revlon Perfect Style Round Hair Brush , $6.00)

3. Any blowdryer with both hot and cool modes (we recommend the Conair Infinity CordReel, $30.00)

With these three products, anyone can master the ultimate blowdry that is sure to last through any heat wave. Here are his insider’s tips on how to create a blowout that will last:

* Use a pea size amount of the KeSARI oil when hair is soaking wet (start at the ends and then work your way up to the roots)

* Let locks air dry 90% of the way, so that the hair can absorb all of the oil to fight frizz

* Dry hair in sections to make the blowout easier and to get a smooth and shiny finish

* Flip your hair and use cool air – this will seal the hair to lock out frizz and add volume so that hair doesn’t go flat

* Reapply a tiny amount of the Indian Oil for extra shine and to fight humidity

Getting the best summer blowout can be done right at home. With just three products and these essential tips, you can give yourself an amazing and affordable sleek summer style!

Spring’s Sassiest Haircuts

Spring has sprung and us ladies have got to get out heads in the game… and by heads, you know I mean our Spring “do’s”! No matter what length you are comfortable with there is a hair style for you. Do you love a short textured bob or are you more of a long layers kind of girl? It’s of no matter… you can be sassy at any length this Spring! We checked out InStyle’s recommendations on hot looks for this season!

Jennifer Aniston’s One-Length Bob

HOW TO GET IT: Ask for an angled bob that starts at the nape of the neck and follows your jaw line. Keep the ends one length, and go easy on the layers.

Jessica Alba’s Punky Bob

HOW TO GET IT: “It isn’t noticeable, but the back of the cut is slightly shorter than the front,” her hairstylist Robert Ramos said. “The length hits just above the collarbone and has long layers worked in.”

Keira Knightley’s Textured Bob

HOW TO GET IT : “Ask for a graduated bob with longer layers through the front,” hairstylist Michael Barnes said. “Take Knightley’s picture to the salon with you, and be sure to ask how to get the delicate waves into your hair.”

Emma Watson’s Polished Pixie

HOW TO GET IT : “Ask your stylist for a rounded layered technique—the hair should hug the shape of your head, and should be blunt, not choppy,” hairstylist Rodney Cutler said.

Rachel McAdams’s Bouncy Layers

HOW TO GET IT:  “Ask for a collarbone-length cut with long layers and an angled fringe,” advised Sebastian’s Thomas Dunkin.

Diane Kruger’s Full Layers

HOW TO GET IT:  “Have your hair cut blunt on the ends, then slightly layered—nothing major—to add some movement,” Remington’s Richard Marin said. “Blow-dry your hair with an ionic dryer, using a boar-bristle round brush to maximize shine and volume.”

Olivia Wilde’s Airy Bangs

HOW TO GET IT:  Ask for eyebrow-grazing bangs that are tapered at the corners, and angled layers starting from the chin down.

Rose Byrne’s Rounded Fringe

HOW TO GET IT:  Ask for full bangs that start near the top of your head and are rounded to frame your eyes. Request a blunt, shoulder-length cut but have the front feathered on the ends.

Meghan’s New Do has been Chosen!

If you have been following along the last couple of weeks, we have been giddy with excitement about our readers choosing Meghan’s New Do! The poll has finally come to a close and a winner has been chosen! It was extremenly close between the Gwyneth Look and the Olsen twin look but Gwyneth took it at the end!

We are excited to be taking Meghan to get her New Do this evening! We will be updating you on the experience and the final product later this week. Stay tuned for that and we will also announce a winner of the Organix Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil collection! HOLLA!

You Choose Meghan’s New Do Poll & Giveaway *CLOSED*

So we here at The Fashionable Housewife like to have fun and in having fun, we obviously love to get our awesome readers involved… enter the “You Choose Meghan’s New Do” Poll and Giveaway. We have a volunteer, Miss Meghan, who will be getting a new and exciting haircut based on what you, the readers decide. We will give you Meghan’s before (both front and back) and will offer you 4 choices of her “After”… based on which style gets the most votes, Meghan gets that haircut. She is brave, although I am pretty sure we are all stylish, so she has it pretty good. To make this even more fun? Each time you cast a vote, tweet or share on Facebook, you will be entered into a drawing for some awesome hair goodies… but let’s start with Before and Afters, shall we?

She is lovely already, we know… but she is ready to branch out and try something different. Her hair has been long and straight for quite some time now… but what to choose?

With the choice of #1, Meghan will be cutting off quite a bit of length and adding quite a few layers. Side swept bangs and layers to frame her face, this look could be quite the departure from her norm.

#2 also brings a much shorter length but this time brings in some angles that her current do does not have. This haircut is edgy and sharp, something that might be fresh and exciting?

Can we say bangs? Hairstyle #3 will be a nice change with blunt bangs and angles that frame the face. Longer than 1 and 2, this style is sexay and different. Would this suit Meghan best?

With #4 comes long layers and sideswept bangs, playful and light. This versatile style could bring Meghan from straight to sassy with just a few snips?

Now which will you choose?

We will be doing a follow up with Meghan’s before and after shots (so we can all see how glamorous our choice was) and also announce a lucky winner. A lucky winner for what? Well, like I mentioned before, with every vote you cast, you are entered into a drawing for an awesome giveaway. We thought it would be fun to give away some pretty darn cool hair care products in honor of a pretty darn cool hairstyle poll! One lucky reader will win a prize package provided by The Fashionable Housewife that includes some of our favorite products from Organix®, The Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil collection, valued at over $30.00!

Voting for your favorite style is your mandatory entry. Choose #1, #2, #3 or #4 and tell us why you like it best!

If you want extra entries, you can tweet about this poll (be sure to follow us, link back to this post and include our twitter handle @thehousewife) or share on Facebook (“Like” us, link back to this post and make sure you tag The Fashionable Housewife)! Be sure to leave comments for each entry. Up to three entries per person. Poll/ Giveaway runs from May 2nd, 2011 until May 15th, 2011 at Midnight.

Some products to try in order to achieve the look? You’ll need bobby pins and a hair elastic for sure + try one of these for that tousled look you crave!

1.Surf Hair Texture Paste, Ulta.com $2.96

Hollywood’s Must Have Hairstyle: The CHOP!

From Jennifer Aniston’s sultry “Lop” (long + chop) to Ashlee Simpson’s precious pixie crop chop, the chop has been catching on like wildfire. There are so many ways to score a chop that fits you. Personally, I am a fan of Jen’s “Lop”, it’s very modern and as long as the front isn’t too long, it actually seems like a laid back, classy style. But this look is so versatile it can be wild and sexy too, check out how Brooklyn Decker (the newest chop recruit) sports a wispy layered chop that is almost a bob, but not quite smooth enough.

How can you score this style? I though you’d never ask! Tommy Buckett, the elite stylng consultant for Sedu (and tress tamer to the stars) has some helpful hints to get you to score the chop and join the ranks of Hollywood’s hair mavens.
