WEN Fall Ginger Pumpkin Cleansing Conditioner Review
Chaz Dean has just release a brand new WEN product, Fall Ginger Pumpkin Cleansing Conditioner.
This is a limited edition product, only available until November and will give you the same healthy, lustrous locks you’ve come to expect from WEN.
This stuff is aaaaamazing!!!!!!! I love anything pumpkin flavored and this is no exception. The spiciness of the ginger complimented but the sweetness of the pumpkin… all mixed with the same luxurious formula that makes me never want to use anything else in the shower ever again.
The Cons…
-
1. I wish it didn’t wish it cost so much.
2. I wish it came in a much bigger bottle.
WHY? Because I’m seriously addicted to this stuff. It’s amazing. And believe me, being The Fashionable Housewife, I get to try a LOT of shampoo and conditioners and all kinds of other hair products. This is the MOST sensational hair cleansing product I have ever tried. It makes my hair look great! Silky, smooth, shiny and
If it was a little more affordable and came in a bigger bottle, I would be getting this stuff in bulk and stocking up for the next few years!
RETAIL: $32.00 for 16oz
Buy it on ChazDean.com or for a limited time you can buy it on QVC.com (search for “Wen Pumpkin”) for only $25!! Get it while it’s still on sale!!!!
WEN Perfection And Your Hair Collide
Have you heard of WEN? I’m sure you’ve spotted at least ONE commercial, right? Yeah, first time I saw it advertised I thought “Yup. Too good to be true. I’m not even going to bother.”
OH THE WASTED YEARS!!!!
Kicking myself now for not trying WEN sooner… It’s hair perfection in a freaking bottle!
My first experience with WEN was testing out the Pomegranate Cleansing Conditioner. One word…. OMG. Oh wait, that’s not a real word… Then three words. OH. MY. GOOOOOODNESS.
But seriously, this stuff is amazing. I’ve tried a million “2-in-1 shampoo conditioners” and more often than not, it was just a heavily moisturizing shampoo or an unwaxy conditioner that didn’t really clean the hair and left it heavy, weighted down and greasy looking. WEN Cleansing Conditioner is totally different than ANYTHING I have ever tried before. It’s more like a 5-in-1. This one product does the same job as shampoo, conditioner, detangler, leave-in conditioners, and styling products.
It says to use a sick amount like 40+ pumps, but I really tried to ration it and only use like 5-10 pumps even though I have VERY thick mid-back length hair that is very wavy and frizzy. It doesn’t suds and smooths into hair like a thick shampoo. I mix with a little water to really work it in and then I let it sit in my hair for 5 minutes. When I rinse, I run my fingers through my hair instead of using a comb and it’s utterly amazing how quickly it takes all the tangles out. Like magic!
Once a week, I add a bit more to the ends of my hair and rinse only slightly before getting out of the shower. Then I towel dry my hair and voila! Tangle free, frizz free, soft, smooth, super shiny hair! I’ve never been so amazed by a hair product before in my life.
And it works on ALL hair types.

It’s seriously addicting though… I could go through a whole bottle in a month if I’m not careful. And I suppose that would be fine if you can afford it. Depends on how high up on your priority list perfect hair is…. If you ration it, a 16oz bottle might last you a month if you use it 4-6 times a week. (Washing your hair daily is NOT necessary with this stuff!)
I like the Pomegranate scent… it’s got this weird undertone scent that I can’t figure out what it is though… Is it mint? Is it an essential oil I can’t name? I don’t know… But the scent does not linger after you get out of the shower, which is fine by me. My hair smells clean after it dries, but not like a bushel of fruit.
There are several other “flavors” if Pomegranate is not your thing… Cucumber Aloe, Fig, Lavender, Tea Tree, Sweet Almond Mint and their latest GINGER PUMPKIN. Sign me up for that stuff!!!!!
You can purchase it on QVC.com in all the different scents and three different size containers so you can try it, see that you can’t live without it and then buy the jumbo size! LOL
QVC has over thousands of positive reviews for this stuff (99% satisfaction!) and it’s no wonder why. This stuff ROCKS! I know I probably sound like a fruitcake but honest to goodness, I have never been this impressed with a hair product before.

Hot Fall 2011 Hairstyles
Are you totally in the mood for a hair change, whether it be totally different or only ever so slightly? Well InStyle shows us some of the “in” hairstyles for this Fall from some of our fave ladies.
Want something drastic fantastic? Ashlee Simpson and Rachel Evan Wood are sporting some really short dos that are probably suuuuuuper easy to style but some would feel are less versatile (personally I want to get a pixie cute but the man is not having it)… are you looking for a somewhere in the middle change? Diana Agron has a choppy layered bob with more length and Jennifer Love Hewitt is rocking some heavy bangs, perfect for Fall.

Not looking to step too far out of your comfort zone? Try some layers. Heidi Klum has all over layering which looks awesome on her, Katie Holmes and Cat Deely have some more classic slight layering that works with their faces and their length. Tyra is working with her hair type, bring layers to her curl and rocking the bangs.

So are you in line for a new style or looking to add an update to your current style? Would you try any of these Hot Fall Do’s?

New U COLOR™ By UMBERTO Review

“Introducing U Color™ by Umberto – the cutting-edge line of foolproof professional color in a no-measure sachet system that is so simple, anyone can get salon-style results in the comfort of their home. At a time where money is tight and women are really cutting back on spending, Umberto (salon master of Beverly Hills) wanted to provide women with a product that allows them to both look and feel beautiful even if they don’t have the money for in-salon color or frequent touch-ups. This specially formulated demi-permanent color has richer pigments for vibrant color. The formula is gentle like a semi-permanent but long lasting like a permanent color and because of the Equalizer it covers gray. It is conveniently packaged in a mess-free Sachet Packet System designed to apply directly to the hair. Just snip, squeeze and smoosh!”
Notes Pre-Color:
I have the opportunity to try out this at home color (yes, I do my own hair at home just like TONS of other women) using my chosen shade of Pearl Blond. I am a natural blond but in recent years my hair has lost its once amazing natural color and now it is more dull than it is fantastic. My goal going into trying U Color was to get an awesome shade of blond, a few shades lighter than mine without looking toooooo too fake (a little fake is OK and welcomed). I am excited about a hair color that it supposedly long lasting, more vibrant and super easy to use. I am also looking for something that is easy and perhaps a little cleaner than my current (and to remain unnamed) at home color. The man is always complaining that I get color all over the place, despite my best efforts in keeping things contained. So with those hopes and dreams, I went into the bathroom to do the deed.

So how did I like it? How did my color come out?
So to look at this set, I was pretty psyched. Already it was different. First of all, they give you two set of the color packets, yes color packets. I was a little surprised by them only including one glove per packet but went with it. I am used to a bottle type hair color, where you mix the color and the developer, shake it up and then apply to your hair. The U Color asked you to fold the color, developer and equalizer packets over one another, then snip the tops off each one so that each packet dispenses at the same time. Easier said than done. When I lined everything up and snipped accross the three, it did not cut the developer so when I went to “smoosh” out, not every packet dispersed evenly. I was very careful and really thought that I did it correctly. I did not and since the directions were very clear in being sure that everything dispersed evenly, knowing I had lost some color and equalizer, I tossed the first set and decided to mix the second set of packets in a bowl so that I could finish the review.
At this point I am starting to get a little frustrated but forge ahead. I put the second set of packets in a bowl and mix it together. I use both gloves provided to apply the color to my hair. Here is where I realize why there are two packets. I was barely able to get enough color out of the remaining packet to cover my hair. It was good thing I just cut my hair Summer short or else I may not have had enough for full coverage. Here is where I made note that the scent of the hair color is MUCH better than my normal potent solution. This was literally a breathe of fresh air. So I finished the application, set my timer for 25 minutes, rinsed, then blow dried.
The color? It’s nice. I am pretty happy that it was a good outcome. My roots were covered, the color does have a nice shine when it catches the light. Will I switch over to U Color? I am not sure. I admittedly had some issues with the application but perhaps that is because I am a creature of habit and have been at the Home Color game for quite some time now. I should probably give it one more go ’round just for the pure fact that I did stretch the one packet and could probably have had a better experience. The color did leave my hair feeling healthy and not dry/brittle so that is definitely a plus. I will say to all of you that as you try at home color you always want to keep these things in mind as well as read the directions very carefully. As you can see, even the most season at home stylists can have issues.
Kit includes:
- 2 Sachet Packets (6 Fl. Oz. total) including Color, Developer and Equalizer that comes ready to use
- Mini Detail Brush
- Latex Gloves
- Illustrated Instructions

Tips on DIY Home Haircolor
I am the first to say that I have been adventurous and …ahem, sometimes impulsive with my hair styles and even hair colors. I come from a long line of women who take their hair into their own hands, especially when it comes to at home color care. So before you make some DIY decisions for your hair color, take a look at these tips on doing it right and with style!

Do a patch test. Before dyeing, apply color to a hidden chunk of hair behind your ear to get a preview of the results.
Protect your skin. To avoid staining your skin, rub petroleum jelly onto your hairline and ears. And wear gloves!
Apply it right. Aim the applicator at your scalp, work the color in from the roots to the ends, then comb through.
Set a timer. Leave dye on for the full amount of time listed in the instructions. Rinse with lukewarm water.
So, now that you’ve got the steps, are you feeling all sorts of fantasy hair color excited?? Browse some hair color options here, and then take a peek at these celebs who switched up their normal hair color routines: *Khloe Kardashian as a redhead *Lauren Conrad as a golden brunette *Emma Stone as a blonde *Michelle Williams in platinum *…and Juliette Lewis in blue!
