Review of Infiniti Pro by Conair™ Auto-Rotating Curling Iron

I got the opportunity to review the Infiniti Pro by Conair™ Auto-Rotating Curling Iron (model 202R) and my results turned out pretty good.

I rarely use curling irons. Okay that’s a lie. I NEVER use curling irons. Before I received this one to review, I pretty much hadn’t used a curling iron on my hair in about 15 years, so clearly I am not an expert. Which may or may not be a good thing… If I was an expert with curling irons, then I could probably use just about any curling iron and my hair would turn out great. However, since I am not an expert and my hair turned out relatively pretty, I can say that it MUST be because this is a great curling iron!

Here is the BEFORE:

bad hair day

This is what my hair looks like if I let it air dry. Not pretty.

I usually blow dry my bangs at the very least and then let the back air dry and it ends up looking like this.

Conair Curling Iron

Here is the Infiniti Pro by Conair™ Auto-Rotating Curling Iron (model 202R) and the Carbon Smooth Extra-Large Thermal Round Brush (model 85700). I used the round brush to blow dry my bangs and it worked quite nicely. I can’t wait to try it out with a full blowout.

curly curls

It took me about 20-25 minutes to curl about half of my hair. I have LONG THICK hair and should I mention again, that I didn’t know what I was doing?

Hair on curling iron

I got tired of how long it was taking me so I start putting more hair in each curl…

curly red hair

It took me a little over an hour to do the whole thing, but I think it turned out pretty good!

I wish I had checked out some of Conair’s instructional videos on how to use the Auto-Rotating Curling Iron at http://www.conair.com/video_player.php?video_id=91. In all honesty, it was kind of a spur of the moment idea to curl my hair, so I didn’t take the time to research how exactly to use it.

I still think I did pretty well considering I had no prior experience and there weren’t any real instructions with the curling iron on how to use it either. What do you ladies think? Do I pass or fail?

Tips & Tricks to Grow Out Your Hair Like Michelle Williams

Michelle Williams

Michelle Williams, star of Disney’s upcoming Oz The Great and Powerful, is currently growing out her adorable pixie cut for the first time in years. If you’ve been eager to try growing out your own short ‘do, here are several tips and tricks that can help with the process.

SHE by SO.CAP.USA, one of the world’s leading hair extension brands, shared this info with us to help you – our loyal readers – grow out your own hair:

  • Clip-In Extensions: The clip-in extensions from SHE by SO.CAP.USA are designed to be worn on hair as short as three inches, making them the perfect accessory for anyone trying to grow out their locks. With over 90 different colors available and several different lengths, the extensions will blend in with your current ‘do and make tolerating this in-between stage a lot easier!
  • Ponytail Extensions - Sometimes, it’s easier to just throw your hair in a ponytail and wait until it’s grown out a bit to begin styling it. With SHE by SO.CAP.USA’s new ponytail extension, you can clip-in and go or style it to suit your preference: curled, braided or wrapped around existing hair to create a stylish bun.
  • Conditioning Masks - To ensure your hair remains healthy during the growing out process, reach for SHE by SO.CAP.USA’s Argan for You conditioning mask. This nourishing mask contains Beta Carotene to help encourage hair growth and can be used daily.

SHE by SO.CAP.USA’s products are available in thousands of salons nationwide. To find a salon near you, call (877) 855-4247.

Our tips for growing out a short ‘do:

  • Minimize Heat Styling - During the growing out process, keep your hair as conditioned and nourished as possible to make this process less painful. Minimize the use of heat styling tools, and make sure to use a conditioning mask at least once a week. There’s no reason to risk damage during this delicate stage of hair growth!
  • Get Regular Trims - While this might seem counterproductive to your goal – after all, you want LONG hair, not shorter – regular trims will help ensure your hair stays healthy. Plus, you won’t need to worry about frayed or split ends. Getting a trim every six weeks is a good bet.
  • Accessorize - One of the best ways to manage your in-between ‘do is to accessorize with headbands, barrettes or other hair accessories. Be careful not to over-do it, though – too many accessories can look messy.

With these tips and tricks from SHE by SO.CAP.USA and us, you’ll be able to rock a longer style in no time – and look good while it’s growing out.

How to Style Soft Curly Coifs At Home

If you’re looking for a soft, curly hairstyle a la Nikki Reed at Gillette’s ”Kiss and Tell” event, Sebastian Professional stylist Thomas Dunkin has shared several tips for achieving this casual ‘do.

1. Shampoo & Condition

While some styles actually look better with day-old hair, this particular coif requires cleansing and conditioning to look its best. Start by shampooing hair with  Sebastian Professional Trilliance Shampoo, followed up with the matching conditioner. Afterwards, blow-dry hair until your locks are only slightly damp.

2. Volumize

Nothing is worse than a hairstyle that falls flat mid-day, so aim to increase the volume of your hair beforehand. Spritz the roots of your hair with Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray, followed by a generous amount of Sebastian Professional Thickefy Foam applied throughout the length of your hair.

3. Dry

Once you’ve applied your volumizing products, it’s time to get curly! Blow dry large sections of hair and twist each section into a pin curl once dry. Use bobby pins to secure each curl.

4. Brush

Now that your hair has cooled and dried, take out your pin curls and use a vent brush to gently brush out your curls for a soft, sultry wave.

5. Set the Style

For the finishing touch, spritz hair with Sebastian Professional Shaper Hairspray to set your style and add otherworldly shine to your luscious locks.

That’s it! In five easy steps, you can have a casual, curly ‘do that doesn’t require hours in front of a mirror to achieve. To learn more about Sebastian Professional products, including where to buy, please visit SebastianProfessional.com.

Hair Trends for Spring 2013

What better way to celebrate 2013 than with a new hairstyle? Whether you’re looking for a sleek and effortless updo or a funky new trend to try, we have the skinny on the hottest hair trends for spring 2013. The best part? You don’t have to wait until spring to try them out!

Ponytails

This quintessential style for bad hair days can be sleek and sophisticated on its own. For a modern twist, part your hair on either side and pull hair back into a low pony. If you’re looking for extra volume or length, try HairUWear’s 18″ Beach Curl Pony or Wrap Around Straight Pony ($49/each, Ulta.com.)

Braids

Braids are a chic and whimsical hair trend for spring 2013, and there are a variety of ways you can create this look for yourself. If you don’t have the time or patience to braid your own hair, try HairUWear’s French Braid Band for an instant hairstyle that’s sure to get you noticed ($10, Wigs.com.)

Ombre Hair

Celebrities and real women everywhere are trying praising ombre hair for its effortless, “grown-in” look. If you aren’t ready to brave the commitment of actual dye, try HairUWear’s Ombre Clip-In Extensions for color (and length) without the commitment.

Messy Buns

A favorite for on-the-go fashionistas, messy buns are an effortless up-do that still looks chic and sophisticated. To get this look, flip your hair upside down and use a texturizing spray to create definition. After, simply scrunch your locks, smooth hair upward and twist into a low bun. Secure with bobby pins or a hair tie.

Quickie Waves

Who has time to mess with a curling iron on busy mornings? In a few minutes, you can have natural-looking waves without dealing with styling tools. For this look, shower the night before and wait until your hair is about 15% dry, then apply a texture cream and divide your hair into two even sections. Braid each section of hair and allow them to set overnight. In the morning, remove the braids and shake your hair out for soft, flowing waves. To set the style, spray with a medium-hold hairspray to make the waves last all day.

Choosing Hair Products

Now that you’re armed with all of the hair trends for spring 2013, it’s time to choose products that will keep your hair healthy and manageable all season long – and beyond! Unfortunately, choosing the right shampoo, conditioner and styling products can be an overwhelming task. Luckily, we’ve hand-picked a great selection of products to help you get the hair you’ve always wanted - and tell you what to avoid.

Pro Tip: Avoid hair products that contain silicone. While the silicone will coat hair and make it appear shiny, it also weighs hair down and can give hair a lackluster appearance over time.

For a true mega-watt shine, look for shampoos and conditioners without silicone. We like TouchBack Plus - these products are a fraction of the cost of a salon glaze but deliver comparable results at home. These shampoos and conditioners are especially well suited for women who color their hair, because they instantly deposit color to enrich your hue while adding a beautiful shine. If you don’t want the added color, opt for Clear TouchBack Plus for shiny locks in no time.

For the best results, make sure you leave silicone-free conditioners in hair for at least 3-5 minutes before rinsing. If you rinse too soon, you won’t get the shine you are after.

These easy spring hair trends and expert product recommendations should help you get the look you’re going for this season. If you have any tricks or tips to share, please do so in the comments!
