So I decided to take the plunge and try out Stitch Fix!
I have a couple friends that tried it out and loved what they got, so I just had to try it for myself.
If you’ve never heard of Stitch Fix, you are missing out. Essentially, it’s a personal styling service that delivers custom selected items that suit your personal taste along with a variety of outfits ideas on how to wear the items. It’s like your very own personal shopper, delivered right to your door. You get a box of items you can go through, try on and see what you like. You can keep whichever items you want and you get a 25% off discount if you purchase all five items in the box!
First, you sign up for an account (don’t worry – it’s free!), then you fill out your “Style Profile” which only takes about 5-10 minutes. It’s in depth enough so that you know they really “get” your personal style, without it being a hassle. They definitely found the perfect balance and I think the questions are all on point. Now you can have your own personal stylist without ever stepping foot outside your home!
Once you are done with your personal style profile, you can schedule your fix! It generally takes about a week for your fix to be prepared and shipped, so if you want this for a special occasion, be sure to keep that in mind.
My box arrived last month and I couldn’t have been happier with the selection I received! It was like they really spent the time to think about what I would want and like. My stylist, Layla, hit the nail on the head because I loved absolutely every piece in the box.
- Liverpool Orim Quilted Denim Jacket ($98)
- RD Style Jessika Cowl Neck Poncho ($68)
- MAVI Colette Maternity Skinny Jeans ($98)
- Renee C Porscha Maternity Knit Swing Dress ($58)
- Pixley Kaity Open Cardigan ($78)
Ultimately, I decided to keep just the Mavi maternity skinny jeans because I couldn’t justify keeping any of the other items. I just couldn’t come up with an excuse to own another denim jacket (I already have 6!), another cowl neck sweater (I already own 2), or a sleeveless maternity dress since I will mostly be pregnant during the winter months and I happen to already have a black and white striped maternity dress. I was super tempted to keep the Pixley Kaity Open Cardigan because honestly, it was my favorite thing in the box. However, I own so many cardigans and sweaters, I knew I really didn’t need one more. It was a mature adult decision I didn’t want to make because I LOVED it, but I put on my big girl panties and put the sweater back in the box to send back. Have to admit though, I’m kinda wishing my big girl panties weren’t so effective and I had caved. That cardigan was SO PRETTY! And soft. And warm.
Even though I only decided to buy the maternity jeans, I really loved seeing the 4 other pieces styled just for me and being able to see “Okay I already have one of those in my wardrobe, now I know what to pair it with!”
Being that I am “The Fashionable Housewife”, I generally do not have a hard time coming up with outfit ideas, but this pregnancy brain thing is no joke. I definitely appreciated the maternity outfit inspiration and feeling like “Okay, I CAN still be fashionable even in maternity clothes!”
So those MAVI maternity skinny jeans that I kept are absolutely amazing… Personally, I think $98 is a little excessive for a pair of jeans that I will only wear for 6-7 months, but they are honestly the best fitting, most comfortable pair of maternity jeans that I have ever had on my body. This is my 4th pregnancy, so don’t take that statement lightly! These jeans are seriously the crème de la crème of maternity jeans. Once you put them on, you’ll feel the difference. I would much rather own ONE pair of these maternity jeans to wear for 9 months than 4 pairs of Old Navy maternity jeans.
Let’s talk about how awesome these shoes are for just a second… They slip-on easily, which makes them perfect for pregnancy since I inevitably will not be able to reach my feet at some point. On top of that, they are super stylish, obviously super comfortable and leave room for my feet to swell if they desire to do that late in pregnancy (like they normally do). They feel like sneaker, ballet flat hybrids. I’m in love with them.
You can grab these slip-on sneakers on sale at Zappos right now!
Overall, I am extremely impressed with Stitch Fix. I highly recommend you give them a try, even if it’s only once (especially if you have a special occasion you need an outfit for like a class reunion, wedding, holiday work party, etc). If you love your first box, you can sign up to get a box delivered to our door every month! For busy moms that don’t have a lot of time to shop for themselves or keep up with the latest trends, Stitch Fix is a great option to keep you stylish and current without wasting time scouring through stores.
With the holidays coming up fast, consider getting a Stitch Fix Gift Card for someone you love that could use a little style in their life!
