Back in Black: Must-Have Women’s Shoes

pumpsEvery woman should always have at least one pair of black heels. They match every outfit, every style, and can make subtle or strong statements without distracting from the rest of you!

Naturally, the queen of all black heels would be pumps, which come in a variety of styles to suit your tastes and attitude. However, there’s a reason why pointed-toe pumps are the standard for models to wear in the fashion industry; they’re never out of style, lean and lengthen your legs, and don’t draw all the attention from the outfit or you. Reptilian skin patterns or sequins can add pizzazz and texture if you want a little more punch to your pumps.

strappyOf course, you cannot go wrong with black strappy heels. The recent trend of gladiator and cage sandals is no accident, but they can sometimes be too much for a classy occasion. Find a black heel that has many thin straps, giving the illusion of booties with a little peep of skin. You’ll be up-to-date with fashion while still manipulating the trend to suit your needs.

Slingbacks are crisp and clean, and look great with dress slacks. They’re also easy to slip on and off, in case your home or destination is a “shoes off” location; no need for shoe horns or accidentally crushing the back of your heels!

Slingbacks are also available in lower heels, for those who don’t need the extra height or want to space their knees.

oxfordpumpA style that is often overlooked but makes such a bold impression is the Oxford pump, but finding the right one is difficult. Avoid black-and-white oxfords, or else you risk looking like a mob boss from the 1920’s, and look for heels that aren’t too chunky. Pair them with your favorite black dress to mix it up a bit!

Whether you need a new pair to match a specific ensemble, or you’re looking for a shoe that will last you through all seasons, make sure you have black heels in your closet to suit every occasion.
