A “Power Piece” Three Ways

I picked up this awesome jacket from Forever 21 in the late summer. It’s got a great print that just stood out to me in the store. And at only $32.80 it sure doesn’t break the bank and offered to be a lively piece for my late summer/fall wardrobe. I wore it once to dinner with my husband shortly after I purchased it and then (dread!) it has been in my closet ever since. I hate when I do that!
I’m guessing I am not alone in this?!? Hopefully not! But it always seems to happen to me… I have great “power” pieces in my closet that just sit there or get worn now and again but in the same way. BTW, a power piece would be a piece of clothing that makes a statement, perhaps is on the cusp of a trend or is bold and maybe outside your fashion “box” so to say. So I sat down and did some brainstorming about other outfits – both dressy and casual – that I can incorporate this great jacket with!

At first it seemed silly to me to actually plan outfits in my closet, but now I am realizing I should take time to do this more often. I find that when I am in a hurry I go to my old standbys – which are still great, but may not be doing justice to the other less worn items I own.

Do you ever shy away from your “power pieces”? What is an item you have difficulty incorporating into your wardrobe? We should never let our good fashion go to waste!

and ever since i was told about polyvore, i take time to create my daily outfits instead of just grabbing the same stuff over and over again
