Fall 2009 Shoe Trends: Purple

Purple became the hot color of the season last Fall. This year though, it’s going to be even more popular. I’m seeing a lot of the other shoe trends for Fall 2009 incorporate purple into their design. Since purple is my absolute favorite color and my birthstone (February!), I couldn’t be happier. Think of it… my two favorite things merged into one: shoes + purple = ecstatic.

My favorite pair of purple shoes so far is the Naot Trendy, a casual and very comfortable pair of mary janes. They feature beautiful patent leather with nubuck trim, easy on and off velcro strap and a cute little button on the side. Not only are these shoes stylish and comfortable, they are good for you too. More on that later!

Whatever style of shoes you like best, be sure to get a pair in purple for your Fall 2009 wardrobe. Despite what you may believe, purple shoes are very versatile. You do not have to wear a purple outfit to wear purple shoes. You also do not need your handbag to match your shoes either. Think of purple shoes as more of an accessory to your outfit. If you are wearing a pair of jeans or slacks with a neutral solid colored shirt, you can easily throw on a pair of purple suede pumps and make your whole outfit pop! Wear them like you would wear a fierce pair of red shoes…

Not only are suede shoes going to be popular this coming season, but comfort is actually coming back into style. I don’t whether it’s the economy or women are just tired of having sore feet, but comfort shoes are definitely très chic for Fall 2009 and Winter 2010.

Look for kitten heels and comfortable wedges in purple suede, leather, or patent leather…

If you’re brave and you have some great skinny jeans, leggings or skirts or dresses that hit above the knee, you should consider adding a pair of purple boots to your Fall wardrobe. Remember, you don’t have to wear a purple outfit to wear purple boots. A solid black shirt dress would look great with gray tights and some purple boots. If you want more purple in your ensemble than just your boots, wear purple jewel toned jewelry or accessorize with a purple belt.

Purple boots can be fun and fresh looking, especially with jeans and a leather bomber jacket…
