Review: Urban Decay’s “Brightening” Complexion Primer Potion

Urban Decay
“Brightening” Complexion Primer Potion
I have very pale, milky white skin and I found that the Complexion Primer Potion for Brightening actually worked quite well with my skin. I tried it with both liquid foundation and powder, and it performed great with both. I preferred wearing it with powders though. Since it does leave your skin a tad lighter because of the “brightening” affect, it won’t work for all skin colors.
Pros:
- Goes on smooth and stays put all day
- Keeps foundation looking great for a lot longer
- Nice fragrance
- Non-greasy
- Fills in standard sized pores
- Fills in small lines and scars
- Lightweight and very easy to apply
- No silicons
Cons:
- Lightens skin color
- Can make you look ghostly
- Slightly sticky at first, but dries smooth
So really, no cons unless you have dark skin tones or apply too much. I think this Complexion Primer Potion is great for anyone who likes the idea of a moisturizing primer minus the gross silicons. And considering not too many companies make primers without a silicon base, it’s probably worth a look if you aren’t partial to silicons!
This primer is best for mature skin or anyone who has dull or dry skin. I found this to leave a cooling sensation and it worked wonderfully as a moisturizer, although you could use your own moisturizer under it if you wanted to.
Overall, I think it’s definitely worth a look.
Urban Decay also recently released a Pore Perfecting Complexion Primer Potion that is supposed to be more geared towards filling in pores and is best for younger skin. I haven’t tried that one yet, but I am definitely interested in giving it a try.

I have it.. and I’m African American… it works really well on my mocha skin. You really do have to use just a little **you know.. a little goes a long way** – completely covers up my huge pores, too!

That’s great to hear! I guess it could work for all skin tones as long as you only use a little bit.
Have you tried the Pore Perfecting version? Are there any other makeup primers you like?
