Trend Alert: Asymmetrical Dresses

The Banana Republic dress she mentions in her post costs $148. In my opinion, that’s pretty pricey for a dress. I’ve never owned an asymmetrical dress. It’s not that I don’t like the style, it’s just that you don’t see asymmetrical clothing very often. Low end brands and stores like Wal Mart or Target don’t carry out of the ordinary styled dresses like that.
So we want your opinion. Are asymmetrical dresses hot enough to invest in, or is this a trend that can be passed up?

It’s definitely something to invest in. You’d be surprised at how well they look with so many body types.
It depends on the style of the dress. I would wear one to a wedding or a party or maybe on the weekend as a tunic over jeans if it’s short enough. But its not something I’d wear very often though.
Very nice as evening dress, but not for casual wear.
I’ve seen some I like, but the lines of some remind me of something a cave woman would wear (no offense to any cave women out there. And as you can see from the dress on the Budget Fashionista’s blog, many of them are not kind to women with armpit fat (and that dress is on a model). Personally, I don’t believe the featured dress is worth the price. I do think it is more of a trend than a staple and I wouldn’t buy one just to have one, but maybe if I found one that was really gorgeous. However, dresses with asymmetrical bottoms – that I can go for. It’s very feminine and figure-friendly.
