One Of My Favorite Things…

Posted By: The Fashionable Housewife on July 12, 2008 at 6:07 am

Seven Daughter’s white wine is a PERFECT light wine for the summer season. There’s nothing better than sitting outside in my hammock with a glass of this wine and a good book.

This complex white has a crisp fruit at the front and a dryish Chardonay finish. Reisling, Muscat, Symphony, Gewertzamiener, Chardonay, Sauvignon Blanc. This crisp, balanced wine opens with the fresh flavors of lychee and mandarin oranges. The citrus influence continues with an intense tangerine flavor. The presence of Gewurztraminer compliments the wine with a closing note of spice. Pair with fruit salad, scallops, Asian chicken salad, or Cantonese and Thai cuisines.

Price: $14.00

Buy It: ToastWines.com or Target and Whole Foods Market.

Winemaker Notes:

Seven Daughters White Winemaker’s Blend was born and raised in sunny, coastal California and as a result, the carefully crafted wine benefited from both the warmth of the California sun as well as the cooler temperatures characteristic of the coastal areas. The favorable climate lengthened the grape maturation process, yielding evenly ripened, full flavored grapes. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures of 55°F to ensure maximum fruit flavor and intensity. After racking, a small portion of the wine experienced barrel fermentation in French Oak, followed by malolactic fermentation and frequent stirring of the lees. The remaining juice was tank fermented and was prevented from undergoing malolactic fermentation in order to preserve acidity. The wine was then selected, blended, and bottled after nine months, and delivered to local retail and dining establishments across the country and near you.
