As you can see from the pictures, the Dior Extreme Gladiator Sandals appear on Carrie’s feet A LOT in the new Sex And The City movie. Reportedly, Sarah Jessica Parker had 81 wardrobe changes during the movie and wore the Dior shoes a whopping 5% of the time!! Wow!
After seeing the movie on Friday night, I decided I definitely HAD to have a pair. Now obviously I wasn’t going to buy the actual Dior shoes… No, no, no! They cost $770. And they aren’t even in stock anymore! You might be able to find them in stores, but it’s not likely. One of the only places left to get them is on eBay and most of them are overpriced because of popular demand.
So I went to find a knock-off pair… If you are in the UK, you’re in luck. You can purchase a pair at ASOS for £55.00.
Don’t fret, we found a pair for you US gals too! You can get a similar knock-off in black or tan on Bakers.com, but they look kinda cheap… as in not-made-well.
You can also find a similar pair, the Luichiny Women’s Mandy Sandal, for $59.95 at Endless.com, but they are out of stock entirely. At least for the moment… And Victoria’s Secret has a pair of Strappy Platform Sandals for $50.00 that kinda, maybe looks similar.
Then I found an even better pair on SteveMadden.com for $109.95 They look the most similar to the ones SJP wore in the movie AND you get free shipping, plus get 10% off on your next purchase at SteveMadden.com when you join their email list.
So those are the ones I decided to buy. I ordered them Saturday night and paid $98.95! I don’t think I’ve ever paid that much for a pair of shoes… At least not that I can remember. But these just seem worth it… and now I can’t WAIT for them to arrive!
Oh, and you can get Carrie’s adorable Eiffel Tower bag on PatriciaField.com for $450 or on eBay for $399. I have yet to see a knock-off of this, but will post it as soon as I do.
06/26/2008 – I just noticed that Steve Madden just added a black patent version and a
gray snakeskin version. Both are $109.95. Now I’m wondering if I should get 2 pairs… Those black ones are really pretty.
07/12/2008 – I received my brown Madalynn shoes and I LOOOOOOOVE them! They are so perfect and comfortable. They fit perfectly! READ MORE >>
I have also seen the Bakers version in person and they are really cheap looking. Not worth $50+ in my opinion. They look like something you would buy at Payless.
Here are some user submitted photos of the shoes:

And I know you gals have mentioned that Zappos gives FREE shipping as well as easy returns, so I thought I would include the links to buy them on Zappos for those of you that were interested!

Just got my Madalynns! MUCH more comfortable than the Bakers and you can see the difference in quality. And my little pinky toe stays put!
Okay, I have all (FOUR pairs) of shoes in and I’m not a HUGE fan of the Maddie’s in the patent leather black. I do like them in the natural. I prefer the Madalynn’s in black and brown. I have pictures of all of them and even have one of each in the black for comparison (Drea this is for you). Can anyone tell me how to post pictures on here?
Ah, I forgot to mention that as far as comfort goes, the Madalynn’s were MUCH more comfortable. Even though I prefer the heel on the Maddie’s they pushed my foot forward but that could be because they are slick and not leather? Overall the Madalynn’s are my (my husband, MIL, and neighbor’s) pick. I will keep the natural in the Maddie and probably both pairs of the Madalynn’s. If someone can tell me how to post pictures I’ll be happy to share.
Is posting pictures like loading the photo in Photobucket and then copying and pasting the html code and posting in here? If not, just let me know how to post the pics, and I’d be happy to post pics of my Maddiees!
drea: As far as how I feel about the Black Patent, you’re asking a girl that has some 20 pairs of shoes in patent leather! I love patent shoes, but I also like attention! It takes some confidence to wear these shoes!
(more compliments when I wore them today!)
Cassidy: I didn’t have any pinky toe issues with the Bakers shoes or the Maddiees, but I didn’t try on my size at the Bakers store because they didn’t have it (I wear a 9 and they only had a 7 1/2).
“Drea”- Hello, I will post a picture as soon as i have a chance. The Maddiee’s are very shinny and very comfortable in my opinion. My friend just went and purchased the Bakers shoes today, and i hear they aren’t as nice as the Maddiees. If i can i will take a picture of both and post them this weekend.
lol, thanks brenda, esther, and tothenines!!! its great being able to get different opinion as im not able to see them in person, its really appreciated.
I bought the knock off pair in black, that are almost identical from the Dior’s one and they have large sizes too from
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Sparkling-Desert
heh hah very happy. They even have custom-made for this shoes and I am planning to try. I want a pair in copper bronze.

I sent my pictures to the Fashionable Housewife (as instructed to do so by her) and she’ll post them. I like patent leather too, but in my opinion, I prefer the Madalynns to the Maddies. Not just in looks but comfort, just my opinion though.
Drea – Got my Maddiees today and thought that, even though I don’t have a photo for you, I’d let you know that the black patent is very pretty. It’s almost a soft cracked patent leather (by the way, the shoe uppers are not made of leather, but manmade materials). Shiny, but not too shiny and not cheap looking at all.
The style and fit are pretty much exactly like the Bakers Candice, but the quality is better. However, I think that the Madalynns are made even better than the Maddiees, with a sturdier heel and buckle. And the cutouts are not too flashy (I didn’t like them at first, either, but after trying all the styles, they are now my favorite). Plus, I think the Madalynns are actually more slimming due to the longer cut of the middle section over the top of the foot.
Anyway, unfortunately for me, my pinky toes get caught between the strap and platform of the Maddiees (just like they do in the Bakers Candice) so sadly, even though I really love the black patent, I’m going to have to return these.
So, Drea, I would definitely recommend the black patent. You shouldn’t be worried at all about the look. Let us all know what you decide and how your style of choice works for you!
I’m so glad I found this site! I have been deciding on whether or not to order the Madalynns, I just love them. My biggest concern is if I can walk in them or not. Are they really comfortable and fairly easy to walk in? I already have about ten pairs of shoes in my closet that I thought I would wear but do not because they are too high and uncomfortable. By the way I was in TJ Max recently and they have Steve Madden Basha http://www.stevemadden.com/category.aspx?id=143 for only $29.99 and on the site they are $99.95.
So for the ladies that bought the Madalynns, how easy are they to walk in? Thanks!
I am very very jealous of you ladies that have gotten your Madalynns already! i ordered mine around the same time, but still no word!!
Jem — Order them from Zappos and you’ll get them the next day! You’ll have to pay a little more, but you won’t have to wait. And if they don’t fit, you can return them for free (no restocking fee!). Just be sure to cancel your order with Steve Madden for a full refund.
Rapture — I haven’t worn the Madalynns for more than four hours yet, but in that time, they didn’t rub anywhere and were not too tight — in fact, they’ve already stretched a little bit to fit my foot. What makes your other heels uncomfortable? Heel height? Straps rubbing? Too tight? If it is heel height, these may be uncomfortable for you to wear for long periods of time, but I’d still recommend them because they really are quite stunning. You may want to try your new Madalynns around your home or office first to see how you do before wearing them out. Good luck. I hope that they work for you.
jem if you have a nordy’s near you check there..thats where i got mine they have black and brown..i see sm website the brown madalynns are on preorder till end of aug
Rapture: You ladies are going to think I have a real shoe “problem”, but I own Basha too. They seem comfortable at first, but I wore them to work and needed to change them by lunchtime because you have no cushion under your toes. That part of the shoe is very flat and with the pitch – the bottom of your toes start to ache. They are great for just going out, but I don’t recommend them for work. However, they are ADORABLE on.
Brenda I posted the pics of your shoes! All of them look awesome. I want to buy another pair now!

Ooooh, I forgot to mention… If any of you find these shoes or other uncomfrtable, you can add certain insoles or whatever to add extra comfort so that you CAN wear them to work all day. Check out “Protect & Pamper Your Feet This Sandal Season”
Let me know if you have any questions!
Fashionable Housewife – Thanks!
Brenda: Thank you so much for posting all your pictures to show the comparisons of the different Steve Madden styles/colors! You’re an awesome shoe model.
In addition to The Fashionable Housewife’s recommendation for making your shoes more comfortable, if you haven’t discovered Foot Petals yet, they are a godsend! I have them in practically all my heels. You’ll wonder how you ever wore heels without them!
Drea: You’re too cute!
I’m glad you finally found a pair that you’re happy with!
I decided not to keep my Maddiees in the Natural Snake because I can’t seem to find the occasion/outfit to wear them, but they are pretty hot!
I had a question ladies… i want to get these gladiators.. but i am not sure if they go with this specific dress that i am getting.. take a look at the dress and let me know if i can be edgy yet chic wearing both together. please reccommend a type of shoe if not. thank soo much!

tothenines – I wore the natural snake on Friday night with light wash skinny Seven jeans and a ruffled chiffon gun metal silver top. I was on my feet for about 3 hours and wore them for 5 and they were super comfortable. I got TONS of compliments on the shoes (even in the darkness of the bar). I love the shoes (oh, and thanks for thinking I did a decent job on modeling the shoes, I was beginning to feel a little attacked and wondered if the shoes were going to look bad on my feet.)
