Carrie Bradshaw’s Gladiator Sandals

As you can see from the pictures, the Dior Extreme Gladiator Sandals appear on Carrie’s feet A LOT in the new Sex And The City movie. Reportedly, Sarah Jessica Parker had 81 wardrobe changes during the movie and wore the Dior shoes a whopping 5% of the time!! Wow!
After seeing the movie on Friday night, I decided I definitely HAD to have a pair. Now obviously I wasn’t going to buy the actual Dior shoes… No, no, no! They cost $770. And they aren’t even in stock anymore! You might be able to find them in stores, but it’s not likely. One of the only places left to get them is on eBay and most of them are overpriced because of popular demand.
So I went to find a knock-off pair… If you are in the UK, you’re in luck. You can purchase a pair at ASOS for £55.00.
Don’t fret, we found a pair for you US gals too! You can get a similar knock-off in black or tan on Bakers.com, but they look kinda cheap… as in not-made-well.
You can also find a similar pair, the Luichiny Women’s Mandy Sandal, for $59.95 at Endless.com, but they are out of stock entirely. At least for the moment… And Victoria’s Secret has a pair of Strappy Platform Sandals for $50.00 that kinda, maybe looks similar.
Then I found an even better pair on SteveMadden.com for $109.95 They look the most similar to the ones SJP wore in the movie AND you get free shipping, plus get 10% off on your next purchase at SteveMadden.com when you join their email list.
So those are the ones I decided to buy. I ordered them Saturday night and paid $98.95! I don’t think I’ve ever paid that much for a pair of shoes… At least not that I can remember. But these just seem worth it… and now I can’t WAIT for them to arrive!
Oh, and you can get Carrie’s adorable Eiffel Tower bag on PatriciaField.com for $450 or on eBay for $399. I have yet to see a knock-off of this, but will post it as soon as I do.
06/26/2008 – I just noticed that Steve Madden just added a black patent version and a
gray snakeskin version. Both are $109.95. Now I’m wondering if I should get 2 pairs… Those black ones are really pretty.

I have also seen the Bakers version in person and they are really cheap looking. Not worth $50+ in my opinion. They look like something you would buy at Payless.

hey ladies..i went to my local bakers today and tried to try them on…how do they fit. i wear a 8..but they had a 7.5 and a 10 only in tan, i couldnt even get my foot in the 7.5, and strangly the size 10 was almost a perfect fit, the sales person told me to order a 9 online, but im nervous that wont fit..any suggestions? are you finding they are true to size? of the sm…which are you ladies feelin more the maddie or the madalynn
Drea – I called the local Baker’s store (the nearest one is an hour drive) and the sales manager told me to order a 1/2 size bigger. She said they run small and she wears a 9 (same size as me) and she had to buy a 9 1/2. I hope that helps but with out having tried them on I’m not an expert. I’m waiting on the Madalynn to come now and the district manager for the FL region has assured me he’ll call me when he has the Maddiee in stock. I’m not sure if I’m going to like the “all patent leather” but we’ll see.

can anyone post a pic or email me a pic of the maddiees in black when they get them? i got the madalynn and i dont like them. im thinkin about orderin the maddies now but nervous about how the patent leather will look..i will be pissed if i order then they turn around and have leather, lol
Drea – DHL has my Madalynn’s (in black & brown) all over creation but they should be here tomorrow by 12p. I got the DC manager to send me the Maddie’s in black patent (still kind of leary about that) and the natural snake. He thought the green and purple were a little too “street walker” but did say the green ones with jeans were hot. HA! I didn’t get a DHL tracking number for those but am thinking Tuesday maybe Wednesday on delivery? AND I asked if they had them in leather and he said no so I too will be ticked if I get the patent leather and then they have leather. HA!

Karen I just got my brown Madalynn’s and I LOVE THEM! They are even nicer than I thought they would be. Really high quality, soft leather, and comfortable. I highly recommend them!

Drea I don’t know why you took your Madalynn’s back!!! You can find the Bakers ones in stores, but I don’t think they are nearly as nice. I saw them in the store and they look cheap in my opinion.

I should be getting my Steve Madden Madiee’s by Monday, but loved the way the Madalynn’s looked on the foot in the picture above so I checked Zappos and they have the Madalynn in both black and brown. As most of you probably know, Zappos delivery time is very quick and they often upgrade standard shipping to overnight shipping so I’m hoping to see these on my feet tomorrow. Oh, I do have the Bakers Candice sandal and I do think they look cheap. Plus my little pinky toe falls off the edge, between the second smaller strap in the front and the platform (I’m hoping this doesn’t happen with the Madiees – has anyone else had this problem??). I know that the quality of Steve Madden shoes is very good so I’m looking forward to trying both their styles out.

Yesterday, I chose to purchase the Steve Madden Maddiee in both the Black Patent and Natural Snake. I wore the Black Patent for the 1st time today and received 4 compliments on them! They’re HOT! Plus, I have wide feet and they make my feet look slim!
I tried on the Bakers shoes in black and the leather does not appear very high quality and they make my feet look wide.
I opted for the Maddiee vs. the Madalynn because of the slimmer heel, and its closer similarity to the original shoe. I wasn’t feelin’ the patchwork leather or the brass detail with the black on the Madalynn (this is a matter of preference for each person though!). The Maddiee is also a shoe I would normally wear even if it bore no similarity to a high end shoe.
Enjoy your hot heels, whichever ones you decide to rock!

Hello everyone! I received the “Maddiee” yesterday and i have to say they are fabulous!! I also agree that the Bakers shoes looks a bit generic in contrast to the Steve Madden style. I ordered the Maddiee last week and it arrived quick!! Just in time for the rest of the summer. The bakers shoes have been sold out in most stores here in california. I heard some of the stores just got them in, so i will check them out to get a close up view of them. I have a feeling i will still probably prefer my Steve Madden “Maddiee” shoes!! For those of you who loved the vintage style clothing from the movie, you might want to check out Ebay! I have found many cute 50′s and 60′s style summer dresses, just like the green floral dress Carrie Bradshaw wears with her gladiator platform shoes. Good luck shopping!

I have wide feet (duck feet I call them) and my pinkie toes always fall off the edge of shoes, but that didn’t happen with the Maddalyn’s!!! They are designed perfectly.
Plus, they make my feet AND ankles look skinny. They must be sent from shoe heaven!
AND lets not forget… these babies are actually comfortable!

“Housewife” — I sometimes have pinky toe problems with strappy platforms and it is definitely a problem with the Bakers. I’m really hoping that is not the case with the Maddiees because I do prefer the look and hardware of that syle to the Madalynns. Maybe I’ll keep both — it’s still a lot less than $800.
“To the nines” — Did you notice a fit difference between the Candice and Maddiee styles? Any problems with your pinky toe?
“Drea” — Would you believe that the only camera I own is in my cellphone? I’ll do my best to get a photo of the Maddiees once I get them, but hopefully a more camera-savvy gal will provide one for us all.
