It’s all about the details this Spring. Doesn’t matter whether your wearing stilettos or flats, it’s all about glam and glitz on the shoes. Boring shoes have never been more out of style!

Look for any shoes with interesting details like beads, coins, fringe or something totally unique like hibiscus flowers! Other big trends to keep in mind are shoes with unique or sculptured heels. We are also going to see a lot of shoes with ties, laces, and straps as well as the good ol’ Gladiators!

Here’s a quick rundown on all the shoe trends for Summer 2009…

Details
The biggest trend in shoes for Spring 2009 is details. Anything that stands out and makes the shoes stand out from the crowd. Whether it’s ruffles, fringe, and straps, or buckles, jewels, coins and beads, you want the most unique shoe you can find. Think of Summerg 2009 shoes being a work of art… Even small details like studs, spikes, chains, etc are very much in style. If it’s new and different, you’re good to go.

rsvp - Noreen (Cushioned by Foot Petals) (Linen) - Footwear
Steve Madden - Quantumm (Bronze Metallic) - Footwear
Born - Hibiscus (Yellow Vegtan Leather) - Footwear

Platforms
No, we’re not kidding. Platform shoes are one of the biggest trends we’ll see for Summer 2009. Celebs like Heidi Klum and Eva Longoria were already photographed wearing platforms this month. Don’t be shy… We know these shoes make a bold statement, but they are actually quite comfy, if you get the right pair.

Pleaser USA - Dolly-50 (Baby Pink) - Footwear
Pleaser USA - Lady-60 (Black/Red) - Footwear
Pleaser USA - Delight-676 (Baby Pink) - Footwear

Peep Toes
A standard Spring wardrobe staple is a dependable pair of peep-toes, but this year, we’ll be seeig them during the warmer months too. We love peep toe shoes because they’re great when you haven’t had time to get a pedicure and your tootsies are less then perfect. If you’re too shy to bare your twinkle toes, grab some peeps. Not the peeps you eat! Peep toe shoes!
Madden Girl - Lowla (Brown Paris) - Footwear
Madden Girl - Lyisa (Black Multi) - Footwear
Clarks - Bluebird (Pink Patent) - Footwear

Sling Backs
I personally can’t wear them, because I don’t have much of a heel to keep them on. However, I love the look of slingbacks. There are a lot of cute ones to choose from this year too. I noticed a lot of slingbacks on the Spring 2009 runway and at the Oscars.

Madden Girl - Nemmo (Wine Patent) - Footwear
Annie - Cathy (Gold Satin) - Footwear
Soft Style - Sabina (Wine Suino Pearl Patent) - Footwear

Gladiators
Still? Yup, this trend isn’t going anywhere. It has finally reached the stage of mass adoption, so you just can’t hide from this trend! The must-have shoe for 2008 is now the must-have shoe for 2009. The gladiator sandal, first made popular by Sarah Jessica Parker in the Sex And The City, has now become a wardrobe staple. Doesn’t matter whether their flat or mile high heels, as long as there are tons of straps, you’re good.

Steve Madden - Madalynn (Brown Multi) - Footwear
Matisse - Holland (Natural) - Footwear
Gabriella Rocha - Darline (Gold) - Footwear

Snake Skin (Real or Faux)
Snake skin print is quickly becoming a popular material for shoes this Summer. Again, whether it’s a ballet flat or a spike-heeled stilleto, it’s all about the style and quality. Avoid snakeskin that’s tacky or cheap looking. Don’t got to Payless ShoeSource© for this trend…

Promiscuous - Sultry (Gold Snake Pu) - Footwear
rsvp - Anastasia (Natural Snake Print) - Footwear
Prari - Gardenia (Rose) - Footwear

Ties, Laces & Straps
This is by no means and excuse to wear pointe shoes out in public, but with shoes this Summer, the more laces the better. Ties, laces and straps will keep shoes securely on your feet, so no worries of losing them! Good luck taking them off in a hurry though…

GUESS - Freyja (Dark Brown Leather) - Footwear
Nine West - Sorcerer (Dark Green Leather) - Footwear
Chinese Laundry - Sudoku (Rose) - Footwear

Unique Heels
With all these different artful details on every other style of footwear, you didn’t think we could possibly leave out the heels did you? Look for shoes with cool architectural heels or unique details like a colorful acrylic heel. Wow, now that’s how to make a statement!

Marc by Marc Jacobs - 684918 (Grey Kid) - Footwear
044icon Marc by Marc Jacobs - 693864 (Pink Patent) - Footwear

It’s time to go shoe shopping! Wheeee!

I am based in San Antonio andhave some friends that just developed a new product that is unlike any other in the market. It is called Sassy Soles and it is a soft gel like insert that you put under the ball of your foot to keep your foot in place. It is especially helpful in open-toed heels because of the ridge on the surface that keeps your toes from sliding forward creating that unattractive toe overhang.
