Trend Alert: Polka Dots

There are so many great new trends that will be popping up for Spring 2010, but one of our favorites is polka dots. Why? Because they’re fun, feminine and can add a bit of whimsy to your everyday outfits.

You might already have some polka dotted pieces sitting in your wardrobe, but here are some great ways to insert them into your daily repetoire:
1. Just starting? Keep it simple. If you’re not sure how you feel about the trend, try something small like a scarf, bracelet or headband (a la Blair from Gossip Girl). You can wean your way into it.
2. Pair with a solid. This tip is most important for those of you who want to add this trend to your work wardrobe. A polka dot blouse with a pencil skirt can be fun and on-trend while still being work-appropriate.
3. Like to be daring? Mix and match your prints! One of the bigger trends you’ll see this year is focusing on prints that are almost clashing. Wear your polka dots with plaid. This isn’t for the faint of heart, but it is fun for the fashionista who wants to try something new!

I agree, Lori. I’ll be glad when the desired aesthetic for models swings back to a more curvaceous figure!
I’m not sure… I’m kinda leery about the whole polka dot trend; it tends to be too wild for my taste. But I do agree that, when paired with the right accessories, it can look really good and can work really well.
