Trend Alert – Spring 2007

What’s hot for spring? We know skinny jeans are on their way out and are being replaced with fabulous wide-leg pants, but what other trends do we need to keep up with? No fear, I have put together a list of the hottest trends for Spring 2007.

Of course, wide-leg pants are the latest greatest style in pants. Whether they are in denim, cotton, or wool, wide-leg pants are the perfect alternative to skinny jeans. Plus they look fabulous on most body shapes, unlike body-hugging skinny jeans that only look good on the rack and stick figures like Nicole Richie.

Some inexpensive wide-leg pants to try out are these beautiful white cotton pants from Gap for $59.50 or this navy striped pair for $49.50. Or try an even cheaper alternative, like these black crepe pants from Target for only $29.99.

This also means you can feel free to pull out your gaucho pants from 2005 and rock them with some espadrilles this spring!

Back and better than ever are the fresh nautical inspired styles like navy and white stripes, sailor pants, anchor pendants, and so much more. Great for work or play, you’ll find it’s easier than before to add fresh style to your outfits with nautical inspired pieces that bring a summery warmth to any day.

Stock up on charming accessories like this striped straw handbag from Old Navy or this navy tote bag from Wal Mart for $12.96. You can also find lots of cool nautical jewelry like these sassy anchor earrings or these ship’s wheel earrings. You can also find plenty of nautical shirts like this fabulous striped tunic from Wet Seal.

Silver, gold and bronze accessories bring bold flavor to any outfit. Use sparingly though! You don’t want to look like a Vegas show girl. When done correctly, metallic accessories can be sexy and classy without being over-the-top. Try starting off adding a fabulous pair of gold pumps with a long, chunky gold necklace around your neck. It’s just enough to make a statement without being overbearing.

Step into spring in style with bold floral prints. Whether you choose to add new accessories with flowery accents or dresses in large floral prints, you are sure to appreciate the fresh life this hot trend will bring to your wardrobe.

Old Navy just added a bunch of dresses to their online store that feature bright, blooming florals. My favorite is this brown floral babydoll dress for $24.00. You can also find florals on shoes at Payless.

Along with floral prints you can also enjoy big, bold graphic prints in retro and abstract styles. Look in vintage stores for one-of-a-kind pieces. You can also get some amazing and stylish tops from Wet Seal. A few great examples of what to look for are shirts with bold circle prints, large polka dot prints, and zebra prints with big flowers.

The latest way to spice up a boring outfit is by adding a bunch of color like bright red shoes, a bold yellow belt, or a hot pink handbag. If you are building your outfit around bright colors, try wearing gray trousers, a bright yellow top with a light gray sweater on top, accented by a skinny purple belt across the waist and red patent peep-toes. The gray tones down the bold impact these bright accessories can make. The end look is classy and work appropriate.
