What Not To Wear: Jessica Simpson Edition

Holy krabby patties!!!
First off, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Jessica Simpson this big in my life. It doesn’t even look like her. Her sister just had a baby and is much smaller than her… I don’t want to be judgmental, but she’s always prided herself in having a svelte, “Daisy Duke” figure so I don’t know whether to applaud her for not conforming to societies demands or ask if she’s ok? Is something bothering her? Is she under a lot of stress? Is it something medical?
Secondly, I don’t think I would be as shocked as I am if she had made a better wardrobe choice for her appearance at a country music concert in Pembroke Pines, Florida. This isn’t exactly a flattering outfit, nor does it seem appropriate for a “Chili Cook-off” event.
If she traded that boring tank for a Yummie Tummie Tank and wore some simple, well-fitting jeans instead of those hideous high-waisted lovelies that are 2 sizes too small for her, she would have looked a LOT better. And that belt? Well it might be good on someone… in another day, in another life… Just not with those pants and not on her.
Am I being too critical, or did Simpson really miss the mark with this outfit? Tell us!

Talking about giving someone a complex! “I don’t think I’ve ever seen Jessica Simpson this big in my life. Her sister just had a baby and is much smaller than her…”. Are you kidding I would love to have her body! Not every one that reads your blog is 5′2″ and 105 lbs. Yes she made a horrendous choice in the outfit but SO WHAT she’s added a couple of pounds. She is by no means BIG! Not my favorite post from you.

Shelley,
I am well aware that not everyone that reads my blog is 5′2″ and 105lbs, including ME. I don’t think it;s fair to insinuate that I am being judgmental because I’m “holier than thou” because that is not the case at all.
I’m saying that considering she’s usually about 30 pounds or more thinner and usually very conscious of her weight and her figure, I am very surprised to see a popstar like her “let herself go”.
I never said she was BIG. It’s just that normally she’s near anorexic and I’m surprised to see her so…. not thin.
My main objective was her outfit and that fact that her OUTFIT made her look big…

i agree with you, if i were her i probably would have chosen a 3/4 length puffy sleeve, light, free flowing dress that was fitting at the waist, but gently flowed over the curves. & some cute cowboy boots.

wow, yeah! she has put on a lot of weight I can’t believe it It’s too bad because she used to look soooo good
anyone who says they would love to have her body is obviously a fat slob
January 26th, 2009 at 11:17 pm
shes huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 27th, 2009 at 12:24 am
Wow! These comments are incredibly mean & insensitive. It’s one thing to say she should have made another fashion choice but it’s another to call her huge. That comment from Carrie is horrendous. When did fashionable equal evil-spiritness? Wow!

These comments are unbelievably mean & incredibly judgemental!

She looks awful….I’m sorry I by no means mean to judge her wieght….but…that outfit is horrible….I don’t care for her “style”…it’s trying to hard to be a sexpot…or slobbish..(airport pics). but this just made her look big…it’s not about following the trends…but finding items that are trendy and flatter your shape…….she needs to be more aware of her body…and clothing that flatters her figure….a size 12 can look stunning dressed properly… maybe she feels “comfortable” in her realtionship….and “let herself go.” I used to love her in Newlyweds…but lost her shine to me after the divorce….she needs a stylist ASAP…

I agree with you Sandra. I think she just needs a little bit of a makeover. That outfit sucks!
January 27th, 2009 at 11:27 am
No doubt she is looking attractive in the combination of black and denim but don’t you think she have gained a weight now a days.
She moved to loose fittings and I think this one is really nice and an inteliigent move to look good.

First off, I am not skinny and I am not obese. I DID used to design clothes so I think I have the expertise in my background to say that her stylist should be slapped. I don’t believe she is really this chubby because I think her outfit choice is making her look bigger than what she really is. And, if she did put on weight, well, so do a lot of us, but there are WAY better fashion choices to deflect it. This outfit is HORRIBLE – HORRIBLE !!!
1) Her breasts are practically riding on top of the waist of her jeans. High waisted pants to me, do NOT look good on ANYONE regardless of their figure.
2) The belt choice is totally WRONG for this outfit.
3) The tank top is ill-fitting.
I wish I could be a stylist but it’s a little late in life for me. I’d never send my client out looking like this.

she doesn’t even loook like herself. you can see it in her face. once someone looks fat in the face, it’ time to consider cutting back on the cheetos
January 27th, 2009 at 12:34 pm
I totally agree with you Amethyst!! She would look a lot better in a different outfit. The tightness of her clothing and that stupid belt really makes her look at least 10 pounds more than she probably is.
Maybe she doesn’t have a stylist anymore?
I thought she was working with stylist Ken Paves, but maybe he only does her hair……??
January 27th, 2009 at 12:39 pm
She looks heavier and older what was she thinking!
January 27th, 2009 at 12:45 pm
She’s going thru the Drive Thru’s way too many times (McDonalds etc). But I think she wanted to appear in tight clothes. Not bad, just not a Supermodel.

Since you are being offensive I’m just going to put this out there…while your blog is very entertaining your sense of fashion is very questionable, I find Simpson’s outfit way cuter than all of your outfits put together, and her outfit sucks.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:03 pm
So exactly what part is entertaining Miss GrayM???
If my sense of fashion is questionable and my outfits “suck” why are you even here?
Just wondering…
January 27th, 2009 at 1:23 pm
Ok people, first of all, no one is dissing people because of their weight. Celebrities normally have people who choose their outfit for them but it’s obvious she didn’t here and if she did, she needs to fire that person. This outfit does not accentuate her features in a positive or flattering way. The camera ALREADY adds weight to photos so wearing an outfit unsuitable for her body type only makes her look worse.
I think Ken Paves only does her hair and possibly makeup. Jessica might no longer have a stylist, but when you are a famous celebrity like she is and looking good is a major part of her career; she needs to know when she makes bad fashion choices and speaking as a former designer, this was a BAD CHOICE of outfit Jessica wore. Jessica Simpson is a performer and this is the worst outfit I’ve seen her perform in. It’s odd because ordinarily, she looks pretty decent.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:31 pm
I see that you don’t take criticism about your sense of style too well, how exactly do you think Miss Simpson feels when she hears that not only her outfit sucks but how fat she is. You are entitled to write whatever the heck you want, just be aware of the repercussion that come with speaking your mind in a public blog.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:36 pm
Exactly! It was a bad choice in clothing. Her outfit is really unflattering.
And Fashionable Housewife, I think your outfits are awesome!!!!!!!!! I don’t know why GrayM is being mean.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:46 pm
Be kind ladies. You mean you all look good everyday. You never have a fashion disaster day?
The outfit is horrible. Looks like she is cut in half. Her hair and face look good though. I’m sure there are a lot of guys out there who wouldn’t care if she were in houseshoes and curlers.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:51 pm
I think her hair is fabulous and she’s still very pretty!
January 27th, 2009 at 2:22 pm
Wow someone has a hair across their bottom today…
January 27th, 2009 at 11:53 pm
Dishiness readers have been discussing the same thing (http://www.dishiness.com/?p=4460), but the responses from them have generally been that she looks beautiful… maybe even better with some meat on her bones.
I personally think she’s probably the healthiest she’s ever been (“healthy” NOT being a euphemism for “fat,” I promise!). It was just a bad choice in clothing.
January 28th, 2009 at 11:33 am
Yet another case of Wrong outfit wrong time!! It is gosh-awful, and I wish I hadn’t seen this, because it will haunt my dreams and shopping trips FOREVER. She is a beautiful woman, but I’m not sure her current body shape would look flattering in this outfit even if she were ahem…slimmer. We all have our days, guess this is one of hers…
January 30th, 2009 at 11:46 am
I stand by what I wrote. Look, I am not *dissing* Jessica. She is a beautiful girl and let’s face it ladies, we ALL have a couple days we have made a wrong fashion choice – MYSELF INCLUDED. I don’t like to see anorexic or emaciated girls either. I still say that Jessica or her stylist, chose the wrong outfit for her shape. She is a curvy girl like I am, but I have learned how to dress to disguise certain things. Now, curves are one thing, but dressing in an outfit that makes you look larger than what you are is not flattering nor does it showcase your curves.
She would have looked better, fashionably speaking, if she chose a blouse that was not tucked in, and a different pant style. I would have given her a tunic wrap top (which wrap tops flatters large busted gals) and if she wanted a belt, then chose a narrower one. Then I would have given her a slimmer jean to tuck into her boots OR else, a boot cut jean. She would have looked even more gorgeous than what she is naturally. High waisted pants do not look flattering on large busted gals. I know this from personal experience!
So, picture her from the outfit she has on to changing to:
Tunic wrap top
Slim jeans or boot cut jeans
Narrower belt instead of wide cut
Same footwear or not…
Much better in my opinion !
